Katherine Southard....My Miss NC!!!

Once in a while you meet a person that changes your day, very seldom do you meet someone that changes your life. I have been fortunate to have an entire group of people, one of them is Katherine Southard. Katherine our Miss NC 2009, first came into my life as we competed for the Miss NC and Miss NCOT titles, I have watched her grow so much and I can honestly say that I have grown up so much by being her friend and watching her.

Our year together as Mt Holly queens will forever be my fondest memories of pageantry and I can only hope that every local queen has the same experience at least once in her life! With the help of a man more like my second daddy than a director, Roger Hawkins Katherine was able to be 2nd runner up in 2008 and I 1st runner up! When I went back to watch Katherine I honestly think I was more excited for her than if I could have ever won! I ran to the stage faster to see her, than a little girl runs to the Jonas Brothers!

Katherine I hope you know what a difference you have made in my life, the life of every girl that has seen you, and all of NC! You were the PERFECT Miss NC! I am so glad to call you my sister queen and my friend! We “L” word you!!!!

And the new Miss NC is.......Adrienne Core!!!!

Even though it was bitter sweet to see one of my best friends give up her title as Miss NC, I am super excited for the year that the Miss NC Organization has ahead of them. Miss Adrienne Core took the title of Miss NC on Saturday night and is definetly deserving of the prestigious award! A clogger and beautiful young lady, she will surely make us proud not only at Miss America but in our state as well. Congrats to the top five last night...you ladies were awesome!

First Runner Up: Mallory Honeycutt

Second Runner Up: Brittany Crews

Third Runner Up: Aryn Ward

Fourth Runner Up: Bindu Pamarthi

Thank you ladies for all that you have done for our state!

Miss NC's Outstanding Teen!!!!!

One of the very best things I ever did, Miss NC Outstanding Teen was this past Friday night! On Friday 11 girls competed to make their dreams come true in hope of being named Miss NCOT 2010! All of their community service, modeling practice, talent practice, and fitness routines had paid off they had made it to the final 11! Competing in all phases of competition again, each girl blew me away with their beauty, poise, and talent I know these judges had a very hard time deciding who would be the winner! I am so happy that I was able to be there and even happier that our new Miss NCOT is Miss Kayla Hollingsworth! Kayla I wish you the best as you compete to represent our state at Miss America’s OT, I know you are going to be wonderful! Congrats to all the other ladies, and best wishes for all you do in your future!

Singing for a Cause!!! At New Hope Baptist Church!!!!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!! I had such a great opportunity today to go to New Hope Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC and tell them about the Masonic Home and also sing! It was a great service and such a great time to get the word out about all that the Masonic Home does for children and how people can help! I am also pleased to announce that after the service was over, they were so kind to take up a love offering, and this wonderful church gave $558.16!

I just want to extend a special thank you to everyone that was at the service today! You made a huge difference in my life and the lives of many children at the Masonic Children's Home!

Much Love,

Victoria

Masonic Home Visit!!!!

As a queen on the LMNC court I get to do a lot of things, but NONE of them are as special to me as coming to The Masonic Home in Oxford, NC! This weekend I celebrated with the children at the “End of School Bash!” All of the kids had a half day of school and came back to the campus to find inflatable toys, a rock climbing wall, a Bingo station, a snack and food station as well as their very on DJ for the day, Jay Rogers (Ashlee Perkinson’s dad). The kids had such a great year at school this year and they definitely deserved this party! The Masonic Home has 6 graduating seniors this year, which all have college plans and future goals to make in the next upcoming years of their lives! As Majestic Miss NC I can honestly say if I had to pick one thing that I will cherish for all of my life, it will be the time that I have spent with these children, the staff, and Mr. and Mrs. Hughes! This is “home” and I hope that with all of your help it can remain that way! The plans that God has for this place is unreal, and you can tell it from the very first time you enter to the last time you leave! I had a blast running around, jumping around, climbing walls, dancing and singing with my favorite friends! I can not wait to St. Johns Day to meet all the wonderful alumni and Masons that help this place up and running! What a great week I had here in Oxford, NC! I LOVE THE MASONIC HOME!!!!!!!

Freedom Festival Fundraiser

Whew! Rain, 90 degree weather, cowgirl boots, crowns, singing on stage and selling raffle tickets with a man dressed up as a woman; that basically describes my weekend! The annual Lowell Freedom Festival took place last weekend and boy did I have a ball. The two day event was full of great music, food, games, rides, and different booths for people to visit. During both days I sold raffle tickets for the chance to win an autographed Richard Petty hat! I also had a very special guest along with me, his name is “Tater Swift,” Tater dressed up as a woman to collect donations for The Masonic Children’s Home and did everything he could to collect $1,000 to win his very own crown, sash and the title of Masonic Freedom Festival Queen 2010! I am so happy to announce that Tater DID raise $1,000 in fact he raised over $1,400 in those two days! If you would like to still donate to Tater or buy a raffle tickets please email me at VMVanDyke@yahoo.com . We are so excited about our total and want to raise more and more money so PLEASE help us out! Here are some pictures of the event!

Here I am with Ann Taylor an alumni of the Masonic Home who came out to show her support to her home of 7 years as a child.
